Life is like this
Suddenly, you wake up. You look around and notice that you’re locked in a cell.
Some amount of time – possibly a lot, possibly many years, possibly a lifetime – goes by. One day you realize that the key to the cell has been in your pocket the entire time.
You take the key out of your pocket and stare at it for a long time.
You’re nervous about letting yourself out. What if there are guards? What if it’s dangerous out there? What if you starve?
But eventually you muster the courage anyways.
As you put the key in the lock you’re shocked to realize that there was never a cell to begin with. The whole thing was a figment of your imagination.
You were free the whole time.
